Honda City Features List Revised; 5th Gen Model Loses Some Equipment

In a surprising move, Honda Cars India has revised the features list of both the 4th and 5th generation iterations of the City sedan. While the base-spec SV trim of the 4th-gen Honda City has received a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system (works on older software), the 5th-gen model has dropped a few features.

For starters, the front & rear mudguards have been skipped from the 5th-gen City’s base-spec V trim. Also, the chrome-plated inside door handles have now been dropped for plain, black plastic door handles. Furthermore, the 16-inch, dual-tone spare alloy wheel has been substituted with the 15-inch steel wheel. Lastly, the variant badging will no longer be offered on the boot lid. However, despite the feature removal, the 5th-gen Honda City is still one of the most loaded mid-size sedans in its category with features such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, weblink support, connected car tech, voice assistance, auto climate control, rear AC vents, sunroof, paddle shifters, ambient lighting, up to 6-airbags, lane watch camera, tire pressure monitoring system, ADAS (only with e:HEV) and much more.

Under the hood, Honda offers the 5th-gen City with a 1.5-litre petrol (121PS/145Nm) and a 1.5-litre diesel engine (100PS/200Nm). While the former comes with a 6-speed manual and an optional 7-step CVT automatic, the oil burner is available with a 6-speed manual transmission only. Besides, the carmaker has also recently offered the City with Honda’s new i-MMD strong-hybrid powertrain that offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 26.5kmpl. Click here for more details.

Speaking of the 4th-gen Honda City, currently, it comes with a 1.5-liter petrol engine (119PS/145Nm), mated to a 5-speed manual transmission only, and offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 17.4kmpl. Available in two variants: SV and V,  the prices for the 4th-generation City have remained unchanged despite the addition of a new feature.
