Maruti Suzuki XL6: Old vs New

Maruti Suzuki today updated the XL6 and introduced a host of new features, making it a much more mature option for the MPV segment. What are all these changes? Let’s find out!

Subtle Visual Changes

The facelift brings about minor cosmetic changes to the XL6. These include a newer chrome surround grille, revised rear taillamps, glossy black finish on the B and C pillar, sporty spoiler, new tailgate garnish, shark fin antenna, and larger 16-inch diamond-cut allow wheels.

New Interior Design and Tech onboard

2022 Maruti XL6: Old vs new

Inside, the new Maruti Suzuki XL6 receives tons of love with the facelift update in the form of a revised upholstery, a reworked grey wooden panel, a new 7-inch Smartplay Pro infotainment system equipped with Suzuki’s updated connected car technology (Suzuki Connect), voice commands, 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, tilt & telescopic steering wheel and tire pressure monitoring system to name a few. Although we would’ve preferred more feel-good features like a sunroof, wireless charging, and heads-up display considering the updated price, the existing update still makes the XL6 a much completer and more upmarket pick in comparison to the pre-facelifted one.

New DualJet K-Series Engine

Similar to the new Ertiga, the updated XL6 says goodbye to the existing 1.5L K15B petrol engine and brings the newer K15C engine onboard. This new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine outputs 103PS of maximum power and 137Nm of peak torque (2PS/1Nm less than its predecessor) and comes with DualJet technology, which basically means it will have two injectors per cylinder. In terms of real-world performance, it relates to greater combustion and higher fuel efficiency. The DualJet technology also equips the XL6 with idle start/stop technology.

Goodbye 4-Speed automatic

Like its Arena counterpart, the 2022 Maruti XL6 also gets rid of the aging 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission for a much more sophisticated 6-speed unit, which now also brings paddle shifters, providing you more control on the roads.

Claimed fuel efficiency for the new gearbox is around 20.3 kmpl.

New Alpha+ Variant

With the facelift update, the Maruti Suzuki XL6 welcomes a new top-of-the-line Alpha+ variant, which gets all the luxury features like ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Updated Safety

With the recent update, the XL6 now gets hill hold assists, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and electronic stability control as standard, whereas the range-topping variants get up to 4 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and tire pressure monitoring system.
