BYD e6 Electric MPV Now Available For Private Use

Back in November 2021, Chinese electric carmaker BYD (Build Your Dreams) launched the e6 MPV in India exclusive for business-to-business (B2B) purposes. Now, the EV maker has made the 5-seater people mover available for private registration as well. Priced at Rs 29.15 lakh (ex-showroom), it is a worthy greener alternative to ICE-powered MPVs like Toyota Innova Crysta and Kia Carnival.

Powering the BYD e6 is a single-speed permanent magnet type AC electric motor (95PS/180Nm), mated to a 71.7kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery pack that offers a claimed range of up to 520km (WTLC cycle) in the city on a single charge. The brand offers its battery pack with 8 years / 5 lakh km warranty.

The BYD e6 EV can be charged by a fast charger as well as a normal AC charger. Using a 60 kW DC fast charger can juice up its battery 100 percent in just 1.5 hours, whereas a 40 kW AC charger will take around 1.8 hours for the same. Buyers can also purchase a 7kW AC wall-box home charger at Rs 45,000.

Interestingly, it also features two levels of regenerative braking that start from as low as 2kmph.

Passengerโ€™s safety is ensured by 4 airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, hydraulic brake assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill start assist, ESP, ISOFIX child seat mounts, rear parking sensors, and a rear-view camera.
