  • Powertrain options differ depending on the variant.
  • Unlikely to be launched in India.

American automaker Ford has showcased the new-generation Everest (we knew as the Endeavour) at the ongoing Thailand Motor Show 2022. The SUV was globally unveiled earlier this month.

2022 Ford Everest (Endeavour) – What’s New?

Exterior

The new-generation Ford Everest (Endeavour) features the brand’s most delinquent styling, more features, new powertrain, and extended proportions. It shares its design cues and underpinnings with the new Ford Ranger pickup truck, featuring a high-set bonnet, larger Matrix LED headlamps with C-shaped DRLs, and a connecting grille. A stronger shoulder line is apparent from the side, which gives it a more robust appearance.

The rear design of the new Everest is more chiselled, with a shaper-looking & more upright tailgate, a new chunkier bumper and L-shaped LED tail lamps that are connected by a black plastic panel that features the ‘EVEREST’ insignia.

Dimensionally, the new Ford Everest is 50mm wider and has a 50mm longer wheelbase when compared to its previous model.

Interior and Features

Inside, the 2022 Everest features an all-new dashboard, dominated by a 12-inch vertically-stacked touchscreen infotainment system that operates on Ford’s latest Sync 4. It also gets a larger 12.4-inch driver’s display (select market gets an 8-inch unit), new hexagonal shaped AC vents, and new ambient lighting housed inside the dashboard.

The other notable features of the 7-seater SUV include Ford Pass connected car tech, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, automatic climate control, 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, USB charging points in all three rows, cooled glovebox, power-folding third-row seats, a powered tailgate, and under-floor storage in the boot area.

Passenger’s safety, on the other hand, is ensured by up to 9 airbags, semi-autonomous parking assist, parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) suite that further gets active safety techs like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, evasive steer assist, and automatic emergency braking.

2022 Ford Everest: Variants, Engine and Gearbox

The all-new Ford Everest is available with multiple powertrain options, depending on the market and the variant. In Thailand, the SUV comes in two variants: Sport and Titanium+ 4×4. While the base-spec Sport trim comes with a 170PS/405Nm 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel mill, mated to a 6-speed automatic and 4×2 drivetrain, the top-of-the-line Titanium+ gets a 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel that makes out 210PS of max power and 500Nm of peak torque, mated to a 10-speed automatic and 4×4 drivetrain.

Will Ford launch it in India?

Since Ford has already pulled the plug on the production of its India lineup, it’s unlikely to be offered in our market. However, the American carmaker is likely to introduce high-end models like the Mustang and Mustang Mach-e SUV, among others in our country, via the CBU route.
