Toyota Fortuner Legender GR Sport Showcased In Thailand

  • The Fortuner GR Sport edition features ‘Gazoo Racing’ badgings, redesigned bumpers, and blacked-out alloy wheels with red callipers.
  • Gets Toyota Safety Sense package, comprising driving assist techs.
  • Available only with the 4×4 diesel-AT powertrain.
  • Likely to come to India in the future.

Revealed last year in August, the Japanese automaker Toyota has once again showcased the new Gazoo Racing (GR) Sport edition of the Fortuner Legender in Thailand (at 43rd Bangkok Motor Show 2022). However, that Legender suffix is not used in the Thai kingdom.

2022 Toyota Fortuner Legender GR Sport Edition – What’s Special?

As the name suggests, the Fortuner GR Sport trim gets sporty bits and a few additional features over the regular model.

For starters, the GR Sport trim gets a beefier front bumper with revised fog lamp housing, gun-metal finished 20-inch alloy wheels with red-colored brake calipers and a slightly tweaked rear bumper. Besides, one can notice the prominent ‘GR’ badge on the air dam housing and boot lid of the SUV.

While the changes are quite subtle, they give the Toyota Fortuner Legender a more aggressive appearance, especially in this glossy red shade. The SUV is also available in Black and White color schemes in Thailand.

Inside, the new Toyota Fortuner GR Sport edition gets the same blacked-out interior as the standard Legneder trim, albeit with aluminium pedals, and GR badging on the sporty seats, steering wheel, and the push-button start. There’s also the red stitching on the upholstery and door pads.

Speaking of the features, the Thai-spec GR Sport also gets Toyota Safety Sense package that includes dynamic radar cruise control, blind-spot monitor, and rear cross-traffic alert. All these features are currently missing in the India-spec Fortuner Legender.

Powering the Thai-spec Toyota Fortuner Legender GR Sport is the 2.8-liter diesel engine (204PS/500Nm) that drives all four wheels (4WD) of the SUV via a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It misses out on the 2WD option.
