Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are jointly working on a new Creta-rivaling mid-size SUV, which is likely to be launched by the end of this year (probably around Diwali). It has been codenamed YGF for Maruti and D22 for Toyota. Recently, spy images of both the SUVs have surfaced online, caughting the attention of all the auto enthusiasts out there. Here’s what all the spy shots reveal: –
– While the testing mules were heavily camouflaged, we can clearly notice the different front-end designs of both the SUVs. That said, the one SUV has the same grille inserts as the facelifted Baleno, suggesting that it belongs to the homegrown carmaker.
– The Maruti YGF also features alloy wheels and a large touchscreen infotainment system inside the cabin, indicating it to be a top-specced variant.

– The Toyota D22, on the other hand, features a large air dam with a honeycomb mesh pattern and a sleeker grille flanked by double LED daytime running lamps (positioned above the main headlamps). The position of the headlamps and fog lamps in both the SUVs remains the same. Also, they have identical silhouettes (somewhat similar to the new Toyota cars).

– Both the Maruti Toyota SUVs are likely to be based on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform, which is a derivative of Toyota’s TNGA architecture.
