For those who aren’t aware, VW will offer the Virtus in two broad trims, namely Dynamic Line and Performance Line. The top-spec Performance Line trims of the sedan will come equipped with an LED lighting system, a single-pane electric sunroof, auto AC, rear AC vents, ventilated front seats, a digital driver’s display, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, connected car tech, cruise control, etc.

The safety kit will include up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, multi-collision braking, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, and rear parking sensors with a camera.

The Virtus will be propelled by VW’s familiar 115PS 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, and 150PS 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engines, paired with either a 6-speed manual (standard) or 6-speed AT (for 1L) / 7-speed DSG (for 1.5L) transmission.

The bigger displacement unit will also get Active Cylinder Deactivation Technology (ACT), which shuts off two cylinders under low load conditions for enhanced fuel economy. The same powertrain options also come with other Volkswagen Group cars, including Skoda Slavia, Kushaq, and VW Taigun.

Bookings for the Virtus are already underway ahead of its price announcement in May 2022. Expect Volkswagen to price it from around Rs 10.5 lakh to Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it against the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia, Maruti Ciaz, and the upcoming Toyota Belta.
