2022 MG ZS EV Variant and Battery Details Revealed; Unofficial Bookings Underway

Highlights: โ€“

  • New MG ZS EV to be launched on March 7.
  • Will get a bigger 50.3kWh battery pack with improved driving range.
  • Likely to be available in a single fully-loaded trim at the time of launch.
  • Unlike the Astor, full suite of the ADAS wonโ€™t be offered.

Unofficial bookings for the 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift are now underway at select dealerships for a token amount of Rs 50,000. It is slated to be launched on March 7. If youโ€™re planning to buy this electrified SUV, here are some exclusive details about its battery specifications and variant lineup: โ€“

Battery & Drive Range: โ€“ The facelifted ZS EV will pack a larger 50.3kWh battery pack instead of the current modelโ€™s 44kWh unit. This will be paired with the ongoing 143PS/353Nm electric motor and will result in an improved driving range from the existing 419 kilometers. Besides, the EV will continue to support fast charging.

It remains to be seen whether it gets the optional 72kWh battery pack as its global-spec version.

Features: โ€“ Sharing its equipment list with the Astor, the 2022 ZS EV will come with host of new features including a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driverโ€™s display, powered driverโ€™s seat, updating climate control panel, a rear center armrest, headrest for the middle occupant, rear AC vents, and 360-degree camera.

If reports are to be believed, the new ZS EV will get only select features of the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) like blind-spot warning and rear parking assist.

Expected Price and rivals: Expect MG to charge a notable premium over the current modelโ€™s top-spec trim, which is priced at Rs 25.18 lakh (ex-showroom). On its arrival, it will continue to fight out against the Hyundai Kona Electric.
