Hero Electric and Mahindra JV Rolls Out First Electric Scooter From Pithampur Plant

Highlights: –

  • Production of Hero Electric Optima begins at Mahindra & Mahindra’s Pithampur-based manufacturing facility.
  • Comes in multiple variants.
  • Prices of the Optima electric scooter ranges between Rs 51,440 to Rs 67,440 (ex-showroom Delhi, including FAME II subsidy).

Hero Electric Optima becomes the first product to roll out from Mahindra’s Pithampur plant under the strategic partnership between both brands. Until now, the e-scooter was being manufactured only at Hero Electric’s Ludhiana facility. This will help the EV maker to fulfill the growing demand for electric two-wheelers. Mahindra will also manufacture Hero NYX at its plant.

Speaking of the Hero Electric Optima, it comes in multiple variants: LX (VRLA), HX (single battery), HX (dual battery), and LX, priced between Rs 51,440 to Rs 67,440 (ex-showroom Delhi, including FAME II subsidy). As of now, the brand isn’t accepting bookings for Optima due to previous backlogs.

Powering the Hero Optima HX range is a 550W BLDC hub motor that draws its charge from a 30Ah lithium-ion portable battery pack. Its dual-battery trim is claimed to deliver an IDC tested range of around 122 kilometers in a single charge, whereas its single battery HX claims 85km/charge. The LX trims offer a maximum speed of 25kmph, while the HX has a top speed of over 42kmph.

In the affordable electric scooter space, the Hero Electric Optima locks horns with the Bounce Infinity E1, Okinawa Ridge+, and the Ampere Magnus Pro.
