  • Volkswagen Vento’s Comfortline and Highline Plus manual variants axed.
  • The sedan is now available in Highline (MT & AT), Highline Plus AT, and Matte Edition, priced between Rs 10 lakh to Rs 14.79 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India).
  • It will be soon be replaced by a new Virtus mid-size sedan.

Volkswagen India has discontinued Vento’s base-spec Comfortline and the top-spec Highline Plus (manual) variants from its lineup. With this, the compact sedan is now available in Highline MT, Highline AT, Highline Plus AT, and Matte Edition. While the exact reason for this revision is yet to be revealed, we believe it’s due to their low demand.

Here’s a look at its updated variant lineup of the Volkswagen Vento with their prices: –

Volkswagen VentoPrice (Ex-Showroom)
Highline – MTRs 9,99,900
Highline – ATRs 13,00,500

VW Vento is now priced from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 14.79 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India). It comes equipped with a 1.0-liter TSI turbocharged petrol engine that makes out 110PS of max power and 175Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. It is claimed to return a fuel efficiency of 17.69kmpl with MT and 16.35kmpl with AT.

The carmaker will soon replace the Vento with the Virtus mid-size sedan that is slated to be revealed in March 2022, followed by its launch in May this year. Sharing its mechanical bits and underpinnings with the Taigun SUV, the Volkswagen Virtus will be the brand’s second offering under its ‘India 2.0’ business plan. It is likely to be priced between Rs 10-17 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will go up against the Maruti Ciaz, Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and the upcoming Toyota Belta and Skoda Slavia.
