The all-new Maruti Celerio CNG has been launched in India at Rs 6,58,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). Available in a sole VXi variant, it commands a significant premium of Rs 95,000 over its petrol-only counterpart.

2022 Maruti Celerio CNG – Powertrain and Mileage

Powering the Celerio CNG is the same 1.0-liter dual-jet dual-VVT K-series engine as the regular petrol variant. However, it comes with a factory-fitted CNG kit that has a tank capacity of 60-liters (water equivalent). It produces 56.7PS of maximum power and 82.1Nm of peak torque, a drop of nearly 10PS and 7Nm than the petrol mill. The transmission option is restricted to the 5-speed manual unit to keep prices in check.

Maruti claims a fuel efficiency of 35.6km/kg with the new Celelrio CNG, which is the highest among all the CNG cars available in the Indian market. In fact, its petrol iteration also delivers an incredible mileage of 26.68kmpl with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).

Features

Since the Celerio CNG is based on the mid-spec VXi variant, it gets a decent set of features that mainly includes steel wheels with cover, electrically adjustable ORVMs, manual AC, power steering, power windows, a multi-info display, central locking, manual day/night IRVM, rear parcel tray, and a 60:40 rear split seat.

Passenger safety is ensured by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, speed alert system, seatbelt reminder, speed-sensing auto-door lock system, impact sensing auto door unlock, and rear parking sensors.

Compared to the top-spec ZXi and ZXi+ variants, it misses out on the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, fog lamps, 15-inches blacked-out alloy wheels, rear wiper & washer, rear defogger, and keyless entry with push-button start.

Competitors

The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG competes with the Hyundai Santro CNG and the upcoming Tata Tiago CNG. It is worth noting that the greener Tiago will be available in the top-spec variants. That means it will offer a better set of features, albeit at a higher price point than the Celerio.
