Toyota Fortuner Legender finally gets the much-awaited 4WD (four-wheel drive) variant at Rs 42.33 lakh (ex-showroom), making it Rs 3.72 lakh more expensive than its ongoing 4×2 variant and Rs 4.15 lakh more than the standard 4WD Automatic variant.

Similar to the Legender 4×2 trim, its 4×4 version also utilises the same 2.8-litre diesel engine (204PS/500Nm), paired with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It also gets additional off-road-centric equipment from the standard Fortuner's 4WD model such as low-range gearbox, electronic drive control, mechanical & electronic locking differentials, and downhill assist control. Additionally, it also receives an 11-speakers JBL sound system, which is missing in the Legender 4X2 variant.
Besides the above-mentioned additions, the Legender 4×4 is exactly similar to its 4×2 counterpart. That said, it also comes with a Lexus-like front grille & bumpers, quad-LED headlamps with sequential turn indicators, bespoke 18-inch alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, automatic climate control, ventilated & powered front seats, 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car technology, wireless smartphone charging, powered tailgate, ambient lighting, 360-degree camera and much more. The safety kit comprises seven airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control with traction control, vehicle stability control, hill assist, from & rear parking sensors, etc.

The Toyota Fortuner now ranges from Rs 30.34 lakh to Rs 42.33 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), making it the most expensive SUV in its segment. In the full-size SUV space, it rivals the Mahindra Alturas G4, MG Gloster, and the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace.
