2021 KTM RC Range Teased, Launch Soon

KTM is all set to launch the new RC series of sports motorcycles in India. Recently, the Austrian bikemaker has teased the new RC lineup on Instagram with the caption – "Bred on the track with Grand Prix-inspired design and a race-derived chassis", hinting at its imminent launch. However, some media reports are claiming that the new iteration of the flagship RC 390 is unlikely to make its way to our shores this year, and for now, only the upgraded KTM RC 125 and RC 200 will launch in the country.

For those who aren't aware, both these bikes have already been unveiled globally. The updated KTM RC range comes with a complete overhaul. For beginners, the bikes feature a new front fascia with a new LED headlight with a sleek LED DRL-cum-indicators. Furthermore, their tail section is more sharpened and the reworked fairings are said to deflect air more strongly. There is also a wider windscreen, foldable mirrors, and a larger 13.7-liters of fuel tank (4.2-litres bigger than the previous unit). Their seats have been better padded than before, and the clip-on handlebars have been raised slightly for a more comfortable position. Other notable updates include a new bolt-on subframe, alloy wheels, and disc brakes for weight reduction.

Similar to its global-spec version, the India-bound new RC 125 is likely to get a new full-color TFT display with smartphone connectivity via KTM’s My Ride app, while the RC 200 will feature a color LCD unit (borrowed from the 250 ADV) without connectivity features.

Talking about the engines, both bikes will retain their ongoing units. However, they will get a 40 percent bigger airbox and new engine mapping, resulting in better throttle response and enhanced performance. That said, the 2021 RC 200 will now produce 25.8PS and 19.5Nm (+0.8PS/0.3Nm than before), while the new RC 125 kicks out 15PS and 12Nm (+0.5PS).

Considering all these changes, we expect both the bikes to command a significant price premium over their ongoing models. For reference, the KTM RC 125 is currently priced at Rs 1.58 lakh, whereas the RC 200 will set you back by Rs 2 lakh (both prices ex-showroom Delhi).
