Toyota Fortuner Legender To Get 4X4 Drivetrain Option Soon

Toyota Kirloskar Motor is all set to introduce the Fortuner's Legender trim with a 4×4 drivetrain in October 2021, thus making it more off-road capable. As of now, the Fortuner Legender is only available with rear-wheel-drivetrain, whereas the standard-diesel version of the Fortuner SUV comes with both 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrain options.

Similar to the ongoing 4×2 variant, the range-topping Legender 4×4 trim will also be powered by the same 2.8-liter diesel engine that makes out 204PS of maximum power and 500Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties will be taken care of by the 6-speed torque converter automatic unit. It will also get off-road features such as front & rear locking differentials, electronic drive control, and downhill assist control.

For those who aren't aware, the Legender trim differs in terms of styling when compared to the standard variants of the Fortuner. For instance, it features a Lexus-like front fascia with an aggressively styled bumper, quad-LED headlamps with sequential turn indicators, bespoke 18-inch alloy wheels, and a different design for taillamp & rear bumper. Inside, it gets an all-black theme with maroon highlights, ambient lighting, wireless charging, a hands-free tailgate opening function, and a 360-degree camera that makes it superior to the standard version.

We reckon the new Fortuner Legender 4×4 Automatic trim to command a premium of around Rs 2.4 lakh over the Legender 4×2 trim, which is currently priced at Rs 38.30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). However, it is worth noting that Toyota will revise the prices of its entire product portfolio from October 2021. So, expect the Legender 4×4 to price above Rs 40.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
