All Variants Of Mahindra XUV300 Will Get 130PS DI-Turbo Engine

We all know that Mahindra is gearing up to launch the XUV300 with a more powerful 130PS/230Nm 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with Direct Injection (DI) system. Now, a leaked Delhi Transport document has revealed that all the four variants of the Mahindra XUV300 will get this new DI turbo unit. Initially, this new mill was supposed to be limited to the XUV300's Sportz trim, which made its debut at the 2020 Auto Expo.

For those who aren't aware, this new turbocharged gasoline motor is 20PS/30Nm more powerful than the ongoing 1.2-liter MPFI mStallion turbo-petrol engine. With its launch, the XUV300 will become the most powerful sub-4m SUV, dethroning the soon-to-be-discontinued Ford EcoSport's 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 122PS and 149Nm.

Expect select 130PS trims of the XUV300 to get minor cosmetic differences in terms of body graphics, blacked-out details, and red color contrast highlights inside and outside.

Mahindra is yet to reveal the launch timeline of the XUV300's new turbocharged petrol model. But it is expected to hit the Indian roads by end of this year. The SUV could command a premium of around Rs 30,000 over its ongoing petrol variants, which are priced between Rs 7.96 lakh and Rs 11.71 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, it will more prominently rival the likes of the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon, Toyota Urban Cruiser, and Honda WR-V.
