Recall Alert: Over 1.81 Lakh Units Of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, Ciaz, S-Cross And XL6 Have Been Recalled

Maruti Suzuki has announced a voluntary recall of 1,81,754 units of petrol-powered Ciaz, Ertiga, Vitara Brezza, S-Cross, and XL6 globally over a possible defect in the Motor Generator Unit (MGU). The company has stated the suspected units of these models were manufactured between May 4, 2018, and October 27, 2020.

Maruti Suzuki workshops will soon start contacting the affected vehicle owners to inspect and replace the MGU, free of cost. The replacement of the affected part shall start from the first week of November 2021. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki has asked customers to avoid driving through waterlogged areas and direct water sprays on electrical or electronic components.

If you also own any of these Maruti cars, you can check yourself whether your car has been affected by the recall or not. For that, customers need to go to the "Imp Customer Info" section on the Maruti Suzuki website and enter their vehicle's chassis number (MA3 or MBH, followed by a 14-digit alpha-numeric number).

In other news, Maruti Suzuki is struggling with the shortage of semiconductor chips. And hence, the Indo-Japanese carmaker is suspecting an adverse impact on the production in the month of September at its both Haryana and Gujarat facilities. It is currently expected that the total vehicle production volume across both locations could be nearby 40 percent of regular production. With this, the launch of the second-generation Maruti Celerio has been delayed once again from September to the end of this year.
