Kia Seltos X-Line Edition Teased For India, Launch Soon

Showcased as a concept at the 2020 Auto Expo, the sporty-looking Kia Seltos X-Line will soon be a reality as the brand has recently teased the limited-edition SUV.

The teaser image hasn't revealed much about the Seltos X-Line Edition, but it is expected to look similar to its concept model. That said, the SUV could get some aggressive cosmetical elements to make it look aggressive than the standard model. These will include a dark chrome surround for the grille, a bonnet scoop, sportier-looking redesigned bumpers at both ends with chunkier skid plates and orange accents, blacked-out alloy wheels, and glossy black body cladding that stretches all the way towards the rear. Other design changes will include an orange accent on the roof rails and alloys, a dark chrome bar adjoining the LED tail lamps, and the X-line badging on the front grille, side & rear.

While its interior is still under the wraps, it is likely to receive an all-black cabin theme with contract color highlights, distinctive upholstery, and metal finished pedals.

On the features front, it is expected to get all the bells and whistles from the GT-line model that mainly includes a 10.25-inch infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, UVO connected car technology, remote engine & AC start/stop, a head-up display (HUD), an 8-speaker Bose sound system, an electric sunroof, wireless smartphone charger, ventilated front seats, powered driver seat, ambient lighting and more.

Safety should be taken care of by up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold control, front & rear parking sensors, traction control, 360-degree cameras, and a blind-view monitoring system.

Mechanically, it is unlikely to get any changes. In our opinion, the brand could limit the Seltos L-line with its existing 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine that makes 140PS and 250Nm. This engine comes with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox that drives the front wheels of the car.

The X-Line edition is expected to carry a significant premium over the ongoing turbo-variants of the Kia Seltos that range from Rs 15.35 lakh to Rs 17.44 lakh (ex-showroom India). Once launched, it will help the Seltos gain an edge over its competitors like Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Maruti S-Cross, Tata Harrier, Skoda Kushak, and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun.
