Royal Enfield Himalayan To Get A Road-Biased Trim

A few months ago, Royal Enfield updated the Himalayan adventurer tourer with a Tripper navigation system, new color schemes, and a few tweaks for a more enjoyable riding experience. Now, Chennai-based bikemaker is working on its new version that was recently spied testing. It seems to be a more road-biased version of the standard Himalayan. It is likely to be called ''Himalayan GT'' and could hit the showrooms by the end of this year.

2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan GT – What do the spy shots reveal?

The spied model looks production-ready in the above images. Compared to the ongoing Himalayan, the spied model was carrying subtle changes. For beginners, there was no windscreen and the fork gaiters were too absent. Also, the front wheel looks quite smaller than the standard Himalayan's 21-inch spoke wheels. They are expected to come wrapped in road-biased tires for better on-road performance. While it is yet to be confirmed, the brand could also offer alloy wheels for this variant.

We can also notice that the Himalayan’s signature tank braces and jerry cans mounts have been dropped for newly designed tank shrouds to make it look distinct from the regular model. Besides, its instrument cluster also seems inspired by the Metro 350. The other notable changes include a shorter rear fender, lack of the rear luggage rack, and modified headlamp and indicator mountings.

2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan GT – Engine

In our opinion, the new Royal Enfield Himalayan GT will continue to use the same 411cc single-cylinder counterbalanced FI engine as the ongoing model, mated to a 5-speed transmission. However, the power mill could be re-tuned to suit the updated dynamics of the bike.

In the other news, the Royal Enfield is also working on several other new models, including Hunter 350, a 650cc cruiser, and the next-generation Classic 350 which is expected to be launched in the coming weeks.
