Meet The New Yamaha FZ-X Retro-Styled Motorcycle

Yamaha India has finally added the all-new FZ-X retro-styled model to its 150cc line-up at a starting price of Rs 1,16,800 (ex-showroom). It flaunts a unique appearance that will surely excite many eyeballs on the road. The brand has stated that the first 200 customers who will book the bike online will get a custom made Yamaha Original Casio G-Shock wristwatch.

The new Yamaha FZ-X underpins the same V3 platform as the Yamaha FZ-S. However, its design seems inspired by the XSR155. The bike enrobes a more rugged styling that suits all the needs of urban adventures. It features circular headlamps with aluminium finished brackets, upright handlebars, a boxy fuel tank, a boomerang-shaped radiator grille, and a long two-level seat. Adding a pinch of a more sturdy appearance are the prominent engine guard, silver brackets on the front fender, front fork gaiters, and the upswept exhaust. However, the use of an LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs and LED taillamps spruced up the bike’s modern look.

For rider’s convenience, the bike features a 12V USB power socket upfront, an engine kill switch, side engine cut-off, and a digital instrument cluster that comes with Bluetooth based Yamaha Motorcycle Connect features that comprise call/SMS alerts, mobile battery indicator, parking location record, revv dashboard, battery level & engine oil replacement alert, and malfunction notification. It also gets an interesting feature to check the ranking of your mileage and distance against global Yamaha riders.

As for suspension, the FZ-X gets a telescopic fork at the front and a 7-step adjustable monoshock at the rear. The braking duties are taken care of by 282mm & 220mm disc setup, assisted by a single-channel Antilock Braking System (ABS).  Further, the bike is fitted with multi-spoke alloy wheels, wrapped in block-pattern tyres. It tips the scales at 139kg (4kg heavier than the standard FZ V3), with a fuel tank capacity of 10 litres.

Powering the rugged Yamaha FZ-X is the same 149cc, single-cylinder air-cooled fuel-injected Blue Core engine as the naked FZ-S that generates 12.4PS of max power at 7,250rpm and 13.6Nm of peak torque at 5,500rpm. The engine comes paired to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox.

Yamaha has offered the FZ-X in three colour options – Metallic Blue, Matt Copper, and Matt Black. Besides, the brand is also offering many accessories with the motorcycle, including LED indicators, seat cover, chromed-out rear-view mirror, engine guard, and tank pad, etc,
