Honda Shine 125 Gets Pricier By Up To Rs 1,072

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has increased the prices of its most selling commuter motorcycle in India, the Shine 125. It now costs Rs 71,550 for the drum brake variant and Rs 76,346 (both prices ex-showroom Delhi) for the disc brake variant. That said, the prices of both variants have been increased by Rs 1,072. The brand hasn't revealed any reason for this move.

It is important to note that Honda hasn't made any cosmetic, mechanical, or feature-related changes to the bike. It will continue to be available with the existing set of equipment that includes a halogen lighting system, pass switch, a twin-pod analog cluster, an engine kill switch, electric start, alloy wheels, and a combined braking system (CBS), and a silent starter system.

Powering the bike is a 124cc single-cylinder air-cooled fuel-injected HET engine that develops 10.7PS and 11Nm. Paired to a 5-speed gearbox, the engine also gets Honda’s ACG (alternator current generator) silent starter option that eliminates the need for a traditional starter motor, thus, it does not produce any gear meshing noises.

As for underpinnings, the Honda Shine 125 utilise a diamond chassis, suspended on telescopic front forks and twin preload-adjustable shock absorbers. Braking duties are taken care of by either a 240mm disc or a 130mm drum brake for the front while the rear gets a 130mm drum unit as standard with CBS.

Honda offers the Shine in four color options – Red, Black, Grey, and Blue.

In the 125cc commuter segment, the Honda Shine 125 competes with the Hero Super Splendor (Rs 71,100-74,600)Hero Glamour (Rs 73,200-78,500), and the Bajaj Pulsar 125 (Rs 73,363 82,989).

In the other news, Honda has recently registered the ''Honda RoadSync'' trademark in India. While this nomenclature is used globally for the mobile application for premium two-wheelers that comes with Honda Smartphone Voice Control System (HSVCS), it is likely to be used for a basic Bluetooth-equipped navigation system in India for the smaller capacity Honda bikes & scooters.
