Maruti To Support Production Of Oxygen PSA Generators, Also Extended Plant Shutdown Till May 16

In view of the current COVID19 situations, Maruti Suzuki has further extended the maintenance shutdown of its Haryana-based plants till 16th May 2021. The Suzuki Motor Gujarat has taken the same decision. Earlier, the maintenance period was supposed to end on 9th May 2021.

For the people not in know, Maruti Suzuki's maintenance period was originally scheduled for June 2021. However, the brand preponed the maintenance time from 1st May to 9th May 2021, so that oxygen required in the factory for the manufacturing process could be used for medical purposes. Now, the brand has announced to prolong the shutdown timeline.

Besides, Maruti Suzuki has announced to support the manufacturing of Oxygen PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) generator plants. For this, the brand has joined hands with two NCR-based companies (Airox Nigen Equipments Pvt Ltd and SAM Gas Projects Pvt Ltd) to boost their production of such plants. Maruti has stated that these companies were flooded with orders and they had the capacity to manufacture only 5-8 plants a month. So, we decided to use our resources to help them in scaling up their production. However, the technology, quality & performance, as well as all commercial matters, would remain the responsibility of the two companies. Maruti's association with these companies would be on a no-profit basis.

Airox Nigen Equipments Pvt Ltd is being assisted by Maruti's vendor, SKH Metals. They have arranged new sources of Zeolite (an imported material and critical for a PSA plant) and compressors for the PSA manufacturer. With the support of Maruti, Airbox has already achieved an output of 1 PSA plant a day, and this number will be quickly scaled up to 4 plants per day within the current month. Production in May 2021 is supposed to be 50-60 plants.
