Mahindra To Open An Advanced Design Centre In Europe, Ex-Tata Design Head Pratap Bose Could Lead The Studio

A week ago, we got the news about Pratap Bose's resignation from the post of Vice-President (VP), Global Design Tata Motors. Now, a media report from Economics Times is suggesting that he will soon join Mahindra & Mahindra and could head the newly developed Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (M.A.D.E.) center in the West Midlands, U.K.

What is M.A.D.E?

M.A.D.E. is a new design center of M&M and it will be a part of the Mahindra Global Design Network that includes the Pininfarina Design Studio in Turin (Italy), and Mahindra Design Studio in Mumbai (India). The  M.A.D.E. design center will be operational from 1st July 2021.

The Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (M.A.D.E.) center will extend Mahindra's global design capabilities by developing future-ready products including electric SUVs. It will also play an essential role in Mahindra’s vehicle development efforts by complementing its Chennai-based Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) R&D plant. This new studio will feature high-level capabilities, including a CMF (color, materials, and finish) lab.

As per Rakesh Jejurikar, Executive Director for Auto and Farm Sectors, the creation of M.A.D.E will significantly strengthen Mahindra's design capability across automotive, farm equipment, and two-wheelers globally. M.A.D.E will contribute to all future automotive and mobility products including born EV SUVs and be a resource available to Mahindra Group companies. It will give the brand a quantum leap in both capacity and capability in the design space.

Pratap Bose and M.A.D.E.: –

Though Mahindra vehicles are known for their extraordinary capabilities, their designs are always considered relatively weak. Therefore, the move of Pratap Bose to Mahindra Group is observed as a vital step since it will help the brand to trig the new design language for their modern range of vehicles.

For the people not in know, the Pratap Bose served Tata Motors for almost one & a half-decade and revived their passenger vehicles portfolio. Pratap Bose is credited for the attractive design of prominent Tata cars like the Nexon facelift, Altroz, and Harrier.
