Mahindra XUV700 Likely To Be Launched By October 2021

The Mahindra XUV700, the successor model of XUV500 was recently listed on the brand's official website. While the exact launch date of the premium mid-size SUV is still under wraps, some media reports claim that it will be launched by October 2021 (around the festive season).

The upcoming Mahindra XUV700 will be based on an all-new W601 monocoque chassis, which will be more rigid & stronger than the ongoing platform. Compared to the XUV500, it will be longer & wider to create more space inside the cabin. Not only by dimensions, but the XUV700 will also be more premium than the ongoing XUV500. In fact, it will set a new benchmark with its long features list that is likely to include Mercedes-Benz like dual-screen setup, power-adjustable driver seat with memory function, and radar-based Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which is expected to comprise active safety features like an autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, and many more.

The other notable features will include connected car technology, Android Auto & Apple Carplay smartphone connectivity (could offer wireless support), panoramic sunroof, all-LED lighting system, wireless mobile charger, electric parking brakes with auto-hold function, dual-zone climate control with rear AC vents, auto headlamp & wipers, leatherette upholstery, multiple airbags, ESC, various driving modes, front & rear parking sensors, etc. The Mahindra XUV700 is likely to be offered in both 6-& 7-seater layouts. If it does, the former will get two captain seats in the middle row while the latter will offer a bench-type seat.

Under the hood, the upcoming Mahindra XUV700 will house a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder mHawk diesel, and 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder mFalcon turbocharged petrol engine. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. For the people not in know, both these mills are already available with the second-generation Mahindra Thar off-roader, though in lower states of tune. Select variants of this upcoming three-row SUV will also get the option of all-wheel-drivetrain.

Once launched, it will be positioned against the likes of Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and the upcoming Hyundai Alcazar. The XUV700 is likely to replace the existing XUV500, which is expected to make a comeback in a new 5-seater avatar.
