Maruti WagonR CNG Variants Get Three New Color Options

Maruti Suzuki India has achieved the 3-lakh sales milestone of eco-friendly CNG-powered WagonR hatchback. To mark this achievement, the brand has introduced three new colour options with the Wagon S-CNG variants – Poolside Blue, Nutmeg Brown, and Autumn Orange shades. Earlier, the WagonR CNG was only available with Solid White, Magma Grey, and Silky Silver colour choices.

Launched in February 2020, the BS6 Maruti WagonR CNG is powered by a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder petrol engine that comes with a 60-liter factory-fitted CNG kit that makes 60PS of power and 78Nm of torque when running on CNG and 68PS/90Nm when running on petrol. Maruti offers the WagonR CNG only with a 5-speed manual transmission. For the people not in know, the WagonR is also with a more powerful 1.2-litre petrol engine option that produces 83PS and 113Nm. It can be had with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox.

The claimed fuel efficiency figures of all these powertrains are as follows: –

Marui WagonR Powertrain

Claimed Mileage

1.0-litre Petrol (Manual/AMT)

21.79kmpl

1.0-litre CNG (Manual)

32.52km/kg

1.2-litre Petrol (Manual/AMT)

20.52kmpl

The WagonR S-CNG comes in two variants – LXi and LXi (O). They are priced at Rs 5.60 lakh and Rs 5.67 lakh respectively (ex-showroom Delhi). Since the CNG powertrain is only available with the base-spec variant of WagonR, it only gets a basic set of features such as front power windows, rear parcel tray, power steering, front accessory power socket, manual AC, central locking, body-coloured bumper, and roof antenna. On the safety front, it comes equipped with a driver-side airbag, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seat belt reminders, and a speed alert system. However, one can also get an additional airbag (front passenger-side), and seat belt pre-tensioner & force limiter with the LXi (optional) variant.

In the Indian market, the WagonR CNG goes up against the Hyundai Santro. However, Tata is also gearing up to launch its various offering including the entry-level Tiago with factory-fitted CNG kit.
