Kia Seltos is all set to get an update on 27th April 2021. In all likelihood, the brand could introduce a new Special Gravity Edition in our county. Some media reports are also claiming that the compact SUV could also witness several new feature additions, including a panoramic sunroof. In fact, Kia Motors is also reportedly planning to offer the iMT (intelligent manual transmission) with the Seltos, which is a clutch pedal-less manual gearbox. Currently, Seltos's younger sibling Sonet along with a few Hyundai offerings are available with the iMT unit.
If reports are to be believed, the iMT is likely to be given with only the 1.5-liter naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine of the Seltos, which is good enough in producing 115PS and 144Nm. At present, this engine can be had with either a 6-speed manual (MT) or a CVT automatic transmission.
Besides this, Kia also offers two more engine options with the Seltos: 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol (140PS/242Nm) with 6-speed MT and 7-speed DCT, and 1.5-liter diesel (115PS/250Nm) with 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT.
Talking about the Seltos Gravity Edition, it was launched last year in the South Korean market. It is likely to get some cosmetic changes with notable elements like a redesigned front grille and alloy wheels, unique body shade, larger rear skid plate, and a distinct interior theme. The Korean-spec Gravity Edition also gets some added safety features such as a forward collision prevention assistance system and a rear passenger notification system. However, it is not confirmed whether we will also get these safety features. Apart from this, it could also debut Kia's new brand logo.
With the introduction of updated Seltos, its prices are likely to be increased by a significant margin. As of now, the Kia Seltos SUV is priced from Rs 9.89 lakh to Rs 17.45 lakh (ex-showroom), and rivals the likes of Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster, Maruti S-Cross, and the upcoming Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun.
