Mahindra XUV100, XUV400 And XUV900 Names Trademarked In India

We all know that Mahindra is working on the next-generation Scorpio and next-generation XUV500 which will be known as XUV700. While Mahindra has chosen a new name for the five double O's successor model, the brand has also trademarked multiple XUV badges for the Indian market. These nameplates include XUV100, XUV400, and XUV900. However, it remains to be seen whether any of these monikers make it to the production-spec versions or not.

It is important to note that it is a general practice by automakers to file trademarks in order to shield their intellectual properties and stop their competitors from using them. While these labels may not see the light of the day but they are rising some speculations about Mahindra's future products. Rumors are suggesting that the XUV900 name could be used for the future replacement of Mahindra's flagship 7-seater SUV, the Alturas G4, which rivals the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, and MG Gloster.

Another notable nameplate- the XUV100, could axe the KUV100's 'K' for its 'X' (sorry for the wordplay :P) in the micro-SUV segment to rival the upcoming Tata HBX, and Hyundai AX1 (codename). The XUV400 could be a new 5-seater compact or mid-size SUV that is expected to be positioned against the likes of Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos. Further, the brand could also bring the aging XUV500 in a new avatar by the next year and its ongoing model could be discontinued temporarily.
