Kia Sonet And Seltos Variants Rejigged; Prices Hiked By Up To Rs 2.5 Lakh

Korean automaker Kia has rejigged the variant lineup of Sonet and Seltos SUVs. The brand has discontinued two automatic variants of Sonet (HTK+ 1.0 petrol DCT & HTK+ 1.5 diesel AT), whereas the Seltos misses out on one trim (HTK+ 1.5 diesel AT). However, the prices of both cars remain unchanged. Here's the complete variant line-up of both these Kia offerings with their pricing: –

  • With the discontinuation of the HTK+ automatic variants, now buyers looking for a Sonet DCT/AT trim will have to go for the GTX+ variant, which is upto Rs 2.5 lakh more expensive.
  • Here the AT represents to 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission whereas the DCT stands for the dual-clutch automatic unit, available with a 1.5-litre diesel (100PS/115Nm) and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol (120PS/172Nm) engines respectively. The Sonet also gets a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor (83PS/113Nm) option, which only comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox. 
  • In the subcompact SUV segment, it rivals the likes of the Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, and Renault Kiger.

  • The Seltos has registered the delisting of HT Line’s top-spec HTX+ automatic diesel variant. With this, the Seltos diesel is now available in two automatic variants: HTK+ AT (cheaper than the discontinued HTX+ AT trim by Rs 2.8 lakh) and the GTX+ AT (costlier by Rs 86,000 than the HTX+ AT)
