Kia EV6 Teased For The First Time Ahead Of Its Possible Debut In March End

Kia has teased its upcoming dedicated battery electric vehicle, the EV6 for the very first time. It will be the first EV out of the seven new electric vehicles under its 'Plan-S' strategy. The brand is likely to reveal it globally by the end of March month.

The Kia EV6 will be based on Hyundai Motor Group’s latest Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and will follow the Kia’s new design philosophy that focus towards electrification. The teaser image reveals the sharp LED headlamps, tail lamps and silhouette of the car which suggests that it will get a sporty crossover like appearance. The taillamps seems running through the width of the car, whereas the LED headlamps come with Audi-esque LED daytime running lights, featuring multi-element LED DRLs around the projector units. The EV6 will also be the first dedicated Kia BEV to have the brand’s new logo.

The Korean carmaker has also revealed that Kia’s upcoming BEV's name will begin with the prefix EV followed by a number that signifies to the car’s position in the brand's product line-up.

Technical specifications of the EV6 are yet to be revealed, but Kia had already announced that it would offer a claimed range of over 500km on a single charge. It will also come with high-speed charging capabilities that will juice it up the battery in under 20 minutes.

More details on the EV6 will be revealed on its global premier. With Plan-S strategy, Kia is aiming to offer a full line-up of 11 battery-electric vehicles by the end of 2025. With these models, Kia is striving to capture 6.6% of the global battery electric vehicles business worldwide while also attaining a 25% share of its sales for its eco-friendly cars.
