2021 Maruti Swift Facelift Vs Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Vs Ford Figo: Specifications, Features And Price Comparison

Maruti Suzuki has recently launched the facelifted Swift at a starting price of Rs 5.73 lakh that goes up to Rs 8.41 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the dual-tone ZXi+ AMT variant. It demands up to Rs 25,000 more than the pre-facelift model. For this price premium, it gets minor cosmetic updates, some extra features and a new 1.2-litre Dualjet DualVVT petrol engine that comes with idle start-stop functionality. With this, it has become a more solid contender when compared to its core rivals Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Ford Figo. So, here we have compared the upgraded Maruti Swift with other offerings of the mid-sized hatchback segment to know how does it fare against them: –

  • The Grand i10 Nios Turbo is the most powerful and torquiest model here, followed by the Ford Figo.
  • Compared to the previous model's 1.2-litre K-series engine, Swift’s new petrol engine develops 7PS more power. But still, it is not as powerful as Figo or Nios's 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. However, its torque output is as par with the Grand i10 Nios's 1.2-litre engine.
  • Swift is the most fuel-efficient car in the segment. It also gets start-stop functionality that shuts down the engine automatically when it remains in idling condition for a specific time period.
  • As far as the transmission options are concerned, all the models get a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. But only the Swift and Nios 1.2L model get the option of two-pedal convenience.
  • The Nios and Figo also come with diesel engine options. But since Swift is only a petrol-offering, we have only compared the petrol engine specifications of all the car.

Features

The price and features list of a car is the thing that most influences the purchase decision. All three cars mentioned here, come with all the essentials features that you will be required in your daily run. But it's their USPs that may put you in a dilemma. For instance, all three hatchbacks come with common comfort & safety features like automatic AC, height-adjustable driver’s seat, touchscreen infotainment system, a multi-info display, engine start/stop button with keyless entry, powered ORVMs, steering mounted audio & telephony control, automatic headlamps, rear wiper & washer, adjustable headrests, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors & camera etc. However, the Swift is the only model here that comes with cruise control, coloured MID, 60:40 split rear seats, Electronic Stability Control (only with AMT) and hill assist control (only with AMT), while the Grand i10 Nios features a segment largest 8-inch infotainment system, wireless phone charger, cooled glovebox, rear AC vents and Eco Coating technology. On the other hand, the inclusion of side & curtain airbags, rain-sensing wipers, and an auto-dimming IRVM help the Ford Figo to make it stand out from the crowd. However, the American car misses out on Apple Carplay & Android Auto smartphone connectivity that you'll get with the other two hatches.
