2021 Mahindra XUV500 Petrol Spied Testing, Will Be The Most Powerful SUV In Its Segment

We all know that the next-generation Mahindra XUV500 is in its testing phase and the SUV has been spied once again providing some more exciting details. Going by the spy shots, the testing mule was wearing a petrol badge on the fuel tank lid, which reinforces the fact that Mahindra’s new 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine will be offered with the upgraded XUV500. 

The same petrol engine is also offered with second-generation Mahindra Thar, generating 150PS of max power and 320Nm of peak torque. But in the upcoming XUV500, it is expected to put out 190PS of grunt, making it the most powerful petrol SUV in its segment. The diesel engine, on the other hand, will be a 2.2-liter unit from the mHawk series that could make around 180PS in the upcoming XUV500. Here's how the expected power figures fairs against the other cars of the segment: –

The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 is expected to come with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The diesel variants could also get an all-wheel drivetrain (AWD) option. 

2021 Mahindra XUV500 – What else we know so far? 

Besides the updated mechanicals, the all-new Mahindra XUV500 will undergo complete design makeover both inside and outside. It is likely to be slightly longer and wider than the ongoing model. On the inside, it will feature a Mercedes Benz-like twin-screen setup for infotainment and instrumentation cluster. It will also get a host of new features such as a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, wireless charger, and level-1 autonomous technology, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and autonomous emergency braking, etc.

The new XUV500 is expected to be priced between Rs 14 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). It is likely to be launched by mid-2021, followed by the next-gen Scorpio.
