2021 Jawa 42 2.1 Launched At Rs 1.84 Lakh

Classic motorcycle manufacturer Jawa has launched the new Jawa Forty-Two 2.1 variant at Rs 1,83,942 (ex-showroom Delhi). This makes it almost Rs 6,785 more expensive than the Jawa 42 dual-channel ABS variant. However, it won't replace any trim of the current Jawa 42 and will be sold alongside them.

New Jawa 42

Compared to the other 42 variants, it has received several cosmetic enhancements and a whole range of accessories. The most striking change is that the new 42 gets alloy wheels with tubeless tires, and a Stealth Black theme with black engine casing, black exhausts, black front & rear suspension, etc. Ditching the chrome touches not only giving it a different appeal from the older model but also making it stand out in the portfolio.

The new 42 2.1 also features bar-end mirrors and an off-set racing stripe over the fuel-tank and wheels. Further, the seat cushion has also been revised for added comfort. Jawa has also updated the switchgear to feature two trip meters.

Besides all these changes, customers can also personalize the bike as per their taste with the help of a wide range of official accessories such as a smoked windscreen, engine guard, headlight grill, saddlebags, and a grab rail, etc.

The 2021 Jawa Forty-Two 2.1 gets three new color options: Orion Red, Sirius White, and AllStar Black.

Revised Engine & Underpinning

The new 42 utilizes the same 293cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with a 6-speed transmission. However, some internal changes have been done to extract more power with the engine. It now churns out 27.33PS and 27.02Nm as compared to the previous model’s 26.51PS and 27.05Nm.

The brand has also strengthened the chassis at some points and adjusted the preload in the front suspension. Another big change is in the curb weight as the brand has managed to shed 1kg. It now tips at 171kg, making it one of the lightest bikes in the segment. The dimensions and braking setup of the motorcycle have remained unchanged.

Rivals

In the Indian market, the Jawa 42 2.1 locks horn with Royal Enfield Classic 350, Honda H'ness CB350, and the Benelli Imperiale 400.

Author's Take

All the changes associated with the new 42 2.1 making it visually outstanding as well as enhancing its practicality. But the price hike is not justified in our opinion. Lack of features like LED lighting systems and smartphone connectivity still persists.
