Renault (Dacia) Bigster Concept SUV Unveiled

Romanian car manufacturer Dacia, which is Renault’s subsidiary brand, has showcased its new flagship Bigster concept SUV in Europe. As its name suggests, it is actually a long SUV than Renault Duster, measuring 4.6 meters. It is likely to sit above the Duster in Renault's product line-up.

Design-wise, the Bigster concept SUV gets rugged aesthetics. It features a massive width-spanning grille with signature Y-shaped LED lightings, and heavy body cladding. Proportions of the Dacia Bigster Concept are contemporary yet old-school, conveying a definite message of robustness. It is free from chrome trim or imitation-aluminum elements. Based on the size of its rear-quarter glass, the Bigster concept seems to be a three-row SUV.

According to Dacia, the Bigster concept sports protective exterior panels, which are made from recycled plastics. It also bears a new brand logo that Dacia is soon going to utilize on its upcoming products.

The Bigster SUV will be built on the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance’s CMF-B platform. The brand has also stated that vehicles based on this platform could come in both alternative-energy (LPG or CNG) and hybrid engines.

Commenting on the unveiling of the Dacia Bigster concept, Denis Le Vot- CEO of Dacia & Lada brands said: –

Dacia will stay Dacia, always offering a trustworthy, authentic, best value-for-money proposition to smart buyers. With the creation of the Dacia-Lada business unit, we’ll leverage to the full the CMF-B modular platform, boost our efficiency, and further increase our product's competitiveness, quality, and attractiveness. We’ll have everything we need to bring the brands to higher lands, with the Bigster Concept leading the way.

The Bigster SUV will be launched in Europe by 2025. Renault hasn't made any announcement regarding its launch in the Indian market, but knowing the fact that Dacia is a budget brand of Renault, bringing Bigster's production version to our shore could make sense. As of now, Renault & Nissan are concentrating on products that could be underpinned on the CMF-A+ platform for India. Soon Renault will launch the Kiger sub-compact SUV which will underpin this platform. In fact, the Nissan Magnite and Renault Triber are also based on the CMF-A+ platform.
