2021 Jeep Compass facelift is all set to hit the Indian roads as some of the Jeep dealerships across the country have started accepting its bookings for a token amount of Rs 50,000. For the people not in know, Jeep had revealed the upgraded model of the 5-seater Compass SUV at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2020. Now, it is expected to arrive at our shore by the end of January 2021.

About Jeep Compass Facelift

The facelifted Jeep Compass has undergone subtle design changes. It gets a slightly updated front fascia with chrome studs on the seven-slat grille with a honeycomb mesh pattern. The shape of the headlamps has remained largely the same but the brand has trimmed its size to make it look sharper. It features LED units with integrated LED DRLs as well. Lastly, the bumpers have also been redesigned to give the Compass a crisp look. It looks more aggressive compared to the current model and continues to house the fog lamps, which are now LED units.

Nothing has been changed on the side & rear, except for the new alloy wheels and tail lamps. In terms of dimension, the 2021 Compass facelift is 4,424mm long, 1819mm wide, & 1,652mm tall. It is 17mm taller and 9mm longer than the ongoing model. However, the rise in length can be attributed to the new bumpers, and it won't result in extra cabin space.

The sportier version of Compass, i.e., the Compass Trailhawk has also received a facelift update with distinctive changes from the regular Compass. It mainly includes an off-road centric front bumper, a different set of alloy wheels with red hooks.

With the facelift update, Jeep has given a complete makeover to the interior of the Compass SUV. The redesigned dashboard is split into different layers with tan-brown color highlights. The infotainment system is now a free-standing unit of 10.1-inches. It runs on FCA’s latest Uconnect 5 system and comes equipped with connected car technology. The steering wheel & instrument cluster have also been updated.

In terms of new features, the China-spec Compass facelift gets ventilated front seats, connected car technology, apple carplay & android auto smartphone connectivity support, wireless phone charger, a 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate control, rear AC vent, a panoramic sunroof, cruise control, smart entry with push engine start/stop button, and level-2 autonomous features comprising autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, & forward collision warning, etc. We believe most of these features will be retained in the India-spec Compass as well.

Engine & Gearbox

In India, the new Jeep Compass is likely to come with the same powertrain options as the current model. It includes 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol (163PS/250Nm) and 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel (170PS/350Nm) engine. However, instead of the 1.4-liter unit, the American brand could also offer its new 1.3-liter turbo-petrol engine.

Like the current model, the facelifted Compass is expected to get a 6-speed manual transmission as standard along with a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox option for petrol, and a ZF-sourced 9-speed torque converter automatic unit for the diesel motor. The diesel model will continue to get the choice of AWD (all-wheel-drive) drivetrain.
