New Hero Nyx HX Electric Scooter Launched, Offers 210km Range On A Single Charge

In an attempt to cater to the needs of the B2B logistics industry, Hero electric has launched a new Nyx-HX lineup of scooters in India. It offers a claimed range of 82km to 210km on a single charge, depending on the variant. The prices of the Nyx-HX range start from Rs 64,640 and goes to Rs 74,990 for the Nyx HX Pro version after FAME-2 subsidies. And if you're looking for private use, it will cost you around Rs 1,09,440.

Design & Features

The design of the Hero Nyx HX is quite basic and might not attract you if you're looking for personal use. However, to increase the practicality for commercial purposes, Hero has replaced the rear/pillion seat with a large lockable compartment to carry goods. Further, the footboard of the scooter is also pretty wide which would be very helpful to carry some extra goods. Another plus point comes as under-seat storage as Hero claims that the batteries are placed in such a way that under-seat cargo space hasn’t been compromised.

As far as the features are concerned, the Hero Nyx HX offers smart Bluetooth connectivity features along with remote disables, surveillance and diagnostic solutions, etc.

Underpinnings

The Nyx HX electric scooter is built on an underbone chassis, suspended on telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. On the other hand, the braking duties are handled by the drums brakes on both ends with CBS and regenerative braking system as standard.

Hero Nyx HX – Powertrain

The electric scooter is powered by a 600-watt BLDC hub motor which is paired to three 51.2V/ 30Ah lithium-ion batteries (combined capacity of 1.536kWh). The top speed of Hero Nyx HX is 42kmph which is quite sufficient for the B2B purpose as this low speed helps to achieve the long range of up to 210kms which is essential for the last mile delivery purpose. The scooter takes around 4-5 hours to juice up the battery from 0 to 100%.

Official Comment

Commenting on the newly launched range, Sohinder Gill, CEO, Hero Electric, said-

“Every business needs a specific mobility solution and there cannot be a "one size fits all" bike. The new Nyx-HX series is flexible, modular and versatile to answer most of the needs of a discerning customer. The bike has a low running cost, high load carrying capability, intercity range, coupled with ultimate smart connectivity features like remote bike disablers. We strive to provide complete solutions to a B2B customer ensuring 90% plus uptime, doorstep services, captive charging /swapping infrastructure through our 500 plus strong network all across India. The B2B customer is also able to easily comprehend the direct advantage of adopting electric mobility in terms of the savings and contributing to a cleaner environment.”

Author's Take

The new Hero Nyx HX range seems quite practical for the day-to-day delivery purpose as it offers an impressive range. Though the real-world range would be different from the claimed figures, we believe it would be close to these claims. However, if you're looking to buy one for personal use and want a good combination of modern styling, features, and riding range then we recommend you look for some other options like the Bajaj Chetak, Ather 450X, etc.
