Maruti Suzuki Sold 1.24 lakh Units In August 2020, Recorded 17.1% Growth Over Last Year

The auto industry is among those sectors that have been badly affected by the global pandemic and the nationwide lockdown. However, as we are moving to a new normal, market situations are getting better with each passing day. The sales records of the largest passenger car maker of India, Maruti Suzuki has also indicated the same. The Indian maker has sold a total of 1,24,624 units in August 2020 and witnessed a growth of 15.3% over July 2020 and a 17.1% over August 2019.

The massive recovery is supported by a total domestic sales of 115,325 units and 1,379 units for other OEMs. However, exports registered a negative figure for its year-on-year sales for August 2020. The company exported 7,920 units last month, a drop of 15.3% over August 2019. Let's have a look at its segment-wise sales figures:-

  • The sales figures of the entry-level segment have been jumped by almost 95% percent which suggests that people are getting more inclined towards personal mobility in times of COVID.
  • The total domestic passenger vehicle sales figures settled at 113,033 units, a growth of 21.3% over August 2019. 
  • Sales figures to the other OEMs and total exports declined by 40.9% and 15.3% respectively. 
  • Maruti posted a total sales of 1,24,624 units in August 2020 which is 16,560 units more than the July 2020 stats.
