Jeep Compass To Get A New Night Eagle Blacked Out Limited Edition Model

Jeep Compass is a pleasant and strong contender in the mid-size SUV segment in India. It gives tough competition to other cars and still stands tall in the market. The facelift version of Compass SUV is in pipeline. In between the American carmaker has announced another addition to the existing Compass lineup by releasing a teaser image of "Night Eagle" blacked-out edition. The Night Eagle is the first global limited edition offering from Jeep. It is the pre-facelift variant. The facelift will enter Indian markets, next year.

Jeep Compass Night Eagle Edition: About the Update

Jeep India announced their pre-facelift, special edition compass on their social media platforms teasing the “night eagle” badging which graces the vehicle’s tailgate.

This special edition will be based on the Longitude Plus variant which is the mid-spec trim of Compass SUV. The Night Eagle was revealed internationally in 2019 and has been on sale in select markets including the major ones like the UK, South America, and Brazil.

Exterior

The upgrade is fairly and purely cosmetic with the Night Eagle. And with the name, we can very complacently guess the all-black theme. We can expect all-black paint scheme with blacked-out chrome around the grille and window line with black Jeep badging at both front & rear end. It will also get the ''Night Eagle'' badge on the tailgate. Apart from this, the roof and 18-inch alloy wheels will be all blacked out as well.

Interior

On the inside, the special ‘techno’ part-leather upholstery and gloss black trim around AC vents and the infotainment system will carry on the theme. There would be glossed black trims on the dashboard as well which will house the 8.4-inch infotainment system which comes equipped with convenient mobile application supports like Uconnect, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.

Engine

The hood will house the same engine options as the regular offering. The very powerful 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine (160PS / 250Nm) will be offered with the 2.0-litre diesel engine (173PS / 350Nm). The petrol engine will most probably be accompanied by the choice of a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic. While the diesel mill will come with a 6-speed manual and a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission (with only 4WD variants).

Author’s take

The Night Eagle edition will only get the cosmetic upgrades over to the standard variant. Hence, there is not much to discuss other factors that are pretty much unaltered. The Night Eagle will provide an attractive option to some buyers who want to enjoy the exclusivity of a visually standing out product. The Jeep Compass Night Eagle targets to accomplish this very role.
