BS6 Mahindra Mojo 300 Teased

Mahindra has recently teased the upcoming BS6 Mojo 300 ABS. It is the new emission norms compliant model of its flagship two-wheeler offering. As per the details revealed by the teaser, upgrade Mojo could be launched anytime soon in the coming weeks.

When Mahindra Mojo 300 was launched first, it was offered in two variants: UT and XT, but they had to be eventually discontinued and were replaced with Mojo ABS in August 2019, after the government made the inclusion of safety features like ABS mandatory.

Mahindra Mojo 300: What does the teaser show?

The teaser revealed that Mahindra Mojo 300 will be launched with a BS-6 compliant engine. The darkened out graphics do not reveal much about the updated styling, however, it is expected to get some cosmetic tweaks over the BS4 model.

The Mahindra Mojo 300 could retain its twin headlight setup, followed by a curvy fuel tank and surrounded by minimal side panels. Mahindra might update its exhaust system with an additional catalytic converter in order to comply with stricter emission norms.

Features

We don’t believe that there will be a major overhaul as far as the features are concerned. Like the preceding Mojo, the BS-6 compliant one will continue to get the semi-digital instrumentation cluster which complies analogue tachometer and a digital display for information like speed, gear position, odometer and trip meter.

Engine

The BS-6 Mojo will get the same 295cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that also powers the Jawa & Jawa 42. The performance figures for the BS-6 version are yet to be revealed but it is expected to get the similar output (26.29 HP/28 Nm).

Expected Price

The Updated Mahindra Mojo 300 is expected to retail at a price slightly higher than its BS4 version (1.88 Lakhs). It is likely be priced around Rs 1.95 – 2 Lakhs.

Author’s Take

The Mahindra Mojo happens to be the first (might, also be the only) two-wheeler from the manufacture to receive the BS-6 update. Though it was meant to be a sporty naked at first but Mahindra rejigged the underpinnings and it was launched as a touring bike. Its head-turning design and huge fuel tank capacity of 21 L (higher than any other bike in the segment) helped it cements its notion as a brilliant touring bike.  However, the sales figures due to the stiff competition portrayed a contrasting story. We believe a competitively price for BS6 Mojo 300 can still stir up the market and put up some fight against the popular offerings from the segment that include the Bajaj Dominar 400, RE sisters, and Jawa.
