MG Motor India has updated the Astor with plenty of new features to make the mid-size SUV a more attractive package. The carmaker has also introduced a new entry-level Sprint variant at Rs 9.98 lakh (ex-showroom), making it more affordable than before. For 2024, the MG Astor will receive a host of new convenience features, including ventilated front seats, wireless smartphone charger, electrochromic IRVM, wireless connectivity for Apple Carplay and Android Auto, and a new user interface for the infotainment system. It also packs more robust connected car technology. MG has also made the 10.1-inch infotainment system standard across the variant lineup.
The rest of the features remain unchanged. The key highlights include a panoramic sunroof, 6-way powered driver’s seat, cruise control, auto AC, digital instrument cluster, up to 6 airbags, ESC, hill hold & descent assist, heated ORVMs, 360-degree camera, and Level-2 ADAS suite.
No changes have been made beneath the hood. The Astor continues to be offered with two engine options: – a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (110PS/144Nm) paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT, and a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine (140PS/220Nm) mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The MG Astor faces competition from the Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder and the upcoming Hyundai Creta Facelift.
