Launched in July this year, the 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift has garnered over 50,000 bookings in just two months. And interestingly, 77% of these bookings are for the higher variants, with 47% opting for the ADAS variants. Considering this huge demand, the Korean carmaker has now introduced two new ADAS-equipped variants for the Seltos: GTX+ (S) and X-Line (S).
|Kia Seltos New Variants||Powertrain||Ex-Showroom Price||Different From GTX+/X-Line|
|GTX+ (S)||1.5 Turbo-Petrol with DCT||Rs 19.40 lakh||Rs 40,000 more affordable than GTX+|
|GTX+ (S)||1.5 Diesel with AT||Rs 19.40 lakh||Rs 40,000 more affordable than GTX+|
|X-Line (S)||1.5 Turbo-Petrol with DCT||Rs 19.60 lakh||Rs 40,000 more affordable than X-Line|
|X-Line (S)||1.5 Diesel with AT||Rs 19.60 lakh||Rs 40,000 more affordable than X-Line|
- As shown in the table above, these newly introduced GTX+ (S) and X-Line (S) variants are priced Rs 40,000 lower than their respective GTX+/X-Line trims.
- For this price gap, features like a 360-degree camera and BOSE premium sound system have been dropped for a reversing camera and an unbranded 6-speaker setup.
- Features like 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, connected car tech, panoramic sunroof, digital driver’s display, dual-zone climate control, rear AC vents, ventilated front seats, air purifier, 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat, ambient lighting, six airbags, and ADAS have been retained from the more expensive respective GTX+/X-Line trims.
- With these new variants, Kia is expecting the waiting period to reduce from the current 15-16 weeks to 7-9 weeks.
Engine and Transmission
As the above table indicates, the new Kia Seltos GTX+ (S) and X-Line (S) variants are only offered with the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines, mated to a 7-speed DCT and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission, respectively.
Kia also offers these engine options with a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual) unit with other variants. The lineup also includes a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with 6-speed manual and CVT gearbox options.
The Kia Seltos rivals the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate and Volkswagen Taigun.
