2023 Hyundai Verna vs Rivals – Price Comparison

The price list of the sixth-gen Hyundai Verna has been revealed, which starts from Rs 10.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The upgraded sedan comes in four variants and can be had with either a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol or a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol mill. In the Indian market, it goes up against the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City, Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus. Let’s see how these sedans compare in terms of prices: –

  • Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is the most affordable of the lot, followed by the new-gen Hyundai Verna and Skoda Slavia.
  • The Honda City is the most expensive of all.
  • Interestingly, the price of Maruti Ciaz’s range-topping manual variant is just Rs 9,000 more than the base-spec trim of the new Hyundai Verna.
  • Hyundai has priced the mid-specced SX variant of the Verna at par with Skoda Slavia’s Ambition trim.
  • The Hyundai Verna, Maruti Ciaz and Honda City get a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. Hyundai also offers the Verna with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol unit.
  • The manual-geared iterations of the Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia get the identical 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit. The Slavia also receives a 1.5-litre turbocharged mill with a manual gearbox option.

  • When it comes to automatic variants, the Maruti Ciaz once again undercuts all its rivals by a huge margin.
  • The entry-level V CVT variant of the Honda City undercuts the Verna SX CVT trim by Rs 62,000.
  • Hyundai and Honda offer a CVT option with their 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engines, while the Maruti Ciaz, Volkswagen Virtus, and Skoda Slavia get a torque converter automatic transmission.
  • Hyundai, Volkswagen and Skoda offer their 1.5-litre turbocharged engines with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
  • The Honda City is the only sedan of all that’s also available with a self-charging hybrid powertrain that is claimed to return a fuel efficiency of 27.13kmpl, the highest among all.
  • Only the Honda City and Hyundai Verna are equipped with ADAS.
