2023 Honda City Variants Detailed Leaked

Honda will launch its fifth-generation City with a few cosmetic changes on March 2, and select dealerships have also commenced accepting its bookings unofficially for a token amount of up to Rs 21,000. And now we’ve got to know about its expected variant lineup.

Reports suggest that the petrol-powered 2023 Honda City will receive a new base-variant SV, whereas its hybrid version will now come in two variants: V and VX variants. This will make the sedan more accessible to a wider section of the audience. Besides, the range-topping variants of petrol-powered City could also receive Honda Sensing technology, which is essentially an ADAS suite with active safety features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, collision mitigation braking, forward collision warning, and auto high beam assist.

2023 New Honda City Facelift Front

Aside from variant rejig, the 2023 Honda City will also receive a few design tweaks, including a new grille, a sleeker chrome bar, updated alloys and redone bumpers at both ends. It could also get new features like a wireless smartphone charger and ventilated front seats.

The 2023 Honda City will be powered by the same 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, petrol engine as the existing model that produces 121PS of maximum power and 145Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission. Alternatively, there is the 1.5-litre strong-hybrid petrol engine that produces 126PS/253Nm and is only available with the e-CVT automatic transmission. Updates will be made to the powertrains to meet upcoming BS6 phase II regulations as well as the ability to run on E20 fuel (20 per cent ethanol blended petrol). Moreover, the diesel engine will be phased out due to low sales.

Once launched, the upgraded Honda City will emerge as a more competitive offering against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia and the upcoming next-gen Hyundai Verna.
