2022 Range Rover Sport – What’s New?

The all-new Ranger Rover Sport features aggressive styling, a more prosperous interior with a bunch of new technology, and cleaner powertrain options.

Exterior

Starting with the exterior, the 2022 Range Rover Sport borrows its design cues from the new Range Rover SUV, featuring a minimalistic design with a sleeker grille and smoked adaptive LED digital headlamps. The smooth character lines with the large 23-inch alloy wheels and flush-fitting pop-out door handles, overwhelm the side profile. Interestingly, the provision of cult-free door handles contributes to the super low drag coefficient of 0.29.

The rear design of the SUV now also looks bolder and uncluttered with the new LED lights containing a black trim strip, chunkier tailgate, and aggressively styled bumper with diffuser.

Interior and Features

Inside, the new Range Rover Sport looks more grand with a redesigned dashboard, featuring a 13.7-inch curved touchscreen infotainment system incorporating JLR’s Pivi Pro software and supports over-the-air (OTA) updates, wireless smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa capability. It also comes with a wireless smartphone charger, digital driver’s display, a new three-spoke steering wheel, multi-zone climate control, ambient lighting, 29-speaker 1430W Meridian sound system, active noise cancellation, soft close doors, 22-way power-adjustable massage seats, two 11.4-inch rear-seat entertainment screens, 3D surround-view camera, advanced air purification system, and ADAS.

The upgraded SUV also comes equipped with a new air suspension system and rear-wheel steering. It also benefits from the Terrain Response 2 with an adaptive off-road cruise control system that observes tilt, roll, and pitch and adjusts the vehicle’s speed and a Wade Mode, which shuts the cabin vents automatically, permitting it to creep through a water-filled area (up to 900mm depth).

Powertrain Options

Globally, Land Rover introduced the new Range Rover Sport with a choice of petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid mills, all mated to an all-wheel-drive system and an 8-speed automatic transmission. However, the brand has only listed it with 350PS/700Nm 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder diesel, and 440PS 3.0-liter plug-in-hybrid versions on its website for the Indian market. The latter is capable in offering an all-electric range of 113 km.
