Slightly Tweaked Styling

The updated WagonR is unlikely to receive any significant design changes. The only changes on the exterior are the sportier blacked-out alloy wheels and a new dual-tone paint scheme. No modifications are expected to be made to its grille, bumpers, lighting system, and other body panels.

Similar Cabin

Though we are yet to see its interior, we don’t expect any changes to its dashboard layout. It is likely to get just a revised color scheme and upholstery.

New Features

Features addition could include hill start assist for the AMT variants. Besides, it will carry forward all the equipment from the existing model that majorly includes a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, manual AC, all-four power windows, multi-info display, keyless entry, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, etc.

More Fuel Efficiency

While it is not official, we believe Maruti could offer the 2022 WagonR facelift with new-gen Celerio’s 1.0-litre Dualjet engine that comes with an idle start/stops function. Currently, the Celerio is India’s most fuel-efficient car that is claimed to return a fuel efficiency of 26.68 kmpl with AMT. Besides, the tallboy hatch will continue to get its 83PS 1.2-litre petrol engine and an optional CNG kit with the 1.0-liter unit.

Expected Pricing And Rivals

The updated Maruti Suzuki WagonR is likely to demand a premium over its current model, which retails from Rs 5.18 lakh to Rs 6.58 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Once launched, it will continue to lock horns with the Hyundai Santro and Tata Tiago.
