New-gen Vitara Brezza – What do the latest spy shots reveal?

The latest spy images clearly reveal the exterior design of the SUV. It will feature a new blacked-out grille with chrome inserts flanked by twin-pod LED headlamps integrated with L-shaped daytime running lamps. Its redesigned dual-tone bumper now gets a more chunkier-looking faux skid plate, providing it a sportier appeal.

Yes, the new Brezza retains its boxy silhouette, but its more prominent body cladding, new dual-tone alloys, chunkier roof rails, and noticeably wider C-pillar imparts a more robust appearance.

As revealed by the earlier leaked images, the new will sport a new sculpted tailgate with the ‘B R E Z Z A’ inscription between the newly designed wrap-around LED taillights.

Engine and Transmission

Powering the new Vitara Brezza will be the 103PS/137Nm 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine that recently debuted in the new Ertiga and XL6. It comes mated to a 12-volt mild-hybrid system and idle start/stop technology that provides torque assist and ensures optimum fuel efficiency.

Speaking of the transmission options, the upgraded Maruti Vitara Brezza will retain its ongoing 5-speed manual unit, while the 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission will be replaced with a new 6-speed unit.

Maruti is also expected to offer the new-gen Brezza with a CNG powertrain at a later stage.

Expected Price and Competitors

The new Vitara Brezza is expected to command a significant price premium over its ongoing model, which retails between Rs 7.84 lakh to Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). In the Indian market, it will continue to lock horns with the Kia Sonet, soon-to-be updated Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and Toyota Urban Cruiser.
