2022 Ather 450 Plus and 450X Gen 3 – What’s New?

Enhanced Range: – For starters, both the gen 3 Ather 450X and 450 Plus get a new 3.7kWh battery pack (as opposed to the older 2.9kWh unit) that results in more riding range. That said, the upgraded 450X now offers an IDC claimed range of 146km from the previous claim of 116km. However, in the real world, the e-scooter will be able to cover around 85 kilometers in the Ride mode and 105 kilometers in Eco mode on a single charger.

On the other hand, the Gen 3 Ather 450 Plus now claims a true range of 70km on the Ride mode and 85km in the Eco mode as opposed to the previous claims of 60km in Ride mode and 70km in Eco mode.

Extended Charging Time: – With the increase in battery size, the 0 to 80 percent charging time is now up by 1 hour from the previous charging time of 3 hours 35 minutes. However, the overall charging time (0-100%) is more or less the same as the older model.

Improved Performance: – The maximum power output for Ather 450X has also been slightly improved from 6kW to 6.2kW in Wrap mode. However, the 450 Plus continues to be rated at 5.4kW. The torque output also remains the same for both the e-scooters: 26Nm for 450X and 22Nm for 450 Plus.

Faster UI: With the new 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM, the processing unit of the 7-inch TFT display has also been upgraded. This will make toggling faster across the apps and will work better even in high temperatures. For reference, the older model had 1GB RAM and 8GB of ROM.

Bigger Tyres: With 12-inch MRF tyres and comparatively fatter 100/80-section tyres on the rear, the scooters now roll on a higher level of comfort and provide better handling.

Sweetened Visibility & Ergonomics: The Gen 3 450X also gets new single-cast aluminium sidestep and rearview mirrors that the brand claims are 2X better in terms of visibility and 5X in reliability.

Increased Weight: With all the above-mentioned changes, the e-scooters now weigh 111.6kg, 3.6kg more than before.
