2021 Tata Safari: Variants-Wise Features Explained

Latest Update:Tata Motors has launched the 7-seater Safari SUV in the Indian market with prices ranging between Rs 14.69 lakh and Rs 21.45 lakh (introductory ex-showroom, Delhi). Click here to read the full news. 

Tata Motors is all set to launch the new Safari in February 2021. It will be available in six variants: XE, XM, XT, XT+, XZ, and XZ+. While the launch is still a few weeks away, the homegrown maker has revealed the variant-wise feature details of the upcoming 7-seater mid-sized flagship SUV. Here's take a look: – 

1. Colors Options

  • Daytona Grey

The base-spec XE trim will only be available in the Orcus White shade.

3. Seating Configurations 

The 2021 Tata Safari will be offered with both a 6-seater and 7-seater layout. The 6-seater configuration will come with two captain seats in the middle row while the latter will offer a bench seat.

4. 2021 Tata Safari – Variant-wise Key Features

Tata Safari XE

  • Exterior: – Projector headlights, dual-function DRLs with turn indicators, roof rails, steel wheels. 
  • Interior: – Fabric upholstery, 7-seats. 

  • Comfort & Convenience: – Tilt and telescopic steering wheel, manual AC, rear AC vents with blower controls in the third row, charging ports in the second & third rows, boss mode (a button that moves the front passenger seat forward from the rear), 60:40 split folding & reclining second-row seats, 50:50 split-folding third row.
  • Infotainment/Entertainment: – No features available. 
  • Safety: – Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, Hill-hold assist, roll-over mitigation, traction control, rear disc brakes, brake disc wiping, rear parking sensors, central locking, perimetric alarm system.

Tata Safari XM/XMA

Features (over XE trim) – 

  • Exterior: – Front fog lamps, rear wiper & washer, Follow-me-home headlamp function.
  • Comfort & Convenience: – Remote central locking, multiple driving modes (ECO, SPORT & CITY), height-adjustable driver's seat, electrically adjustable ORVMs. 
  • Infotainment/Entertainment: – 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 6 speakers (4 speakers + 2 tweeters), steering mounted controls.
  • Safety: – Display for rear parking sensors feeds. 

Tata Safari XT

Features (over XM/XMA trim) – 

  • Exterior: – 18-inch alloy wheels, LED units for DRLs.
  • Interior: – Soft-touch dashboard with anti-reflective ‘Nappa’ Grain top layer.
  • Comfort & Convenience: – Auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, automatic climate control, power-folding function for outside mirrors (ORVMs), keyless entry with engine start/stop button, ambient lighting, lumbar support for driver's seat, cruise control, rear center armrest with cup holders. 
  • Infotainment/Entertainment: – iRA connected car technology, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 8 speakers (4 speakers+ 4 tweeters).
  • Safety: – Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), auto-dimming inside rearview mirror (IRVM), rear parking camera.

Tata Safari XT+

Features (over XT trim) – 

  • Comfort & Convenience: – Panoramic sunroof 

Tata Safari XZ/XZA

Features (over XT trim) – 

  • Exterior: – 18-inch machined alloy wheels, Xenon HID headlights, Front fog lights with a cornering function, shark fin antenna.
  • Interior: – Signature Oyster White interior color theme, leatherette seat upholstery & door inserts, leather-wrapped steering wheel & gear shift knob, 
  • Comfort & Convenience: – Terrain Response Modes, 7.0-inch digital display in the instrument cluster, 6-way power-adjustable driver's seat, terrain response modes (Normal, Rough & Wet). 

  • Infotainment/Entertainment: – 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, 9-speaker JBL audio system (4 speakers + 4 tweeters & 1 subwoofer) with amplifier. 
  • Safety: – Side and curtain airbags, Hill-descent control, electronic parking brake with auto-hold function, ISOFIX child seat mounts.

Tata Safari XZ+/XZA+

Features (over XZ/XZA trim) – 

  • Interior:- 6/7-seater options.
  • Comfort & Convenience: – Panoramic sunroof. 

Pre-launch bookings for the Tata Safari will start from 4th February, followed by its launch later in the same month. Its prices are expected to start around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). It will take on the likes of MG Hector PlusMahindra XUV500, and the upcoming 7-seater Hyundai Creta.
