2021 Skoda Octavia To Launch In June 2021

The fourth-generation Octavia sedan was supposed to be launched by the end of April 2021 but the launch was suspended due to the rising COVID19 cases in the country. Now, Zac Hollis, the Director of Sales & Marketing, Skoda India, has confirmed that the new Octavia will be launched next month. However, the final launch date is still in discussion.

For the people not in know, the new Skoda Octavia will get significant design changes both outside & inside. The notable exterior changes will include a bigger butterfly grille, revised LED headlamps, new Rotare Aero alloy wheels, refreshed tail lamps, a slightly altered roofline, and ‘Skoda’ lettering on the boot. Based on Volkswagen Group's MQB EVO platform, the updated Skoda Octavia will be 19mm longer & 15mm wider than the ongoing model. However, at 2686mm, the wheelbase of the sedan will remain the same.

On the inside, the 2021 Skoda Octavia will wear a dual-tone black-beige shade with redesigned AC vents, a new two-spoke steering wheel, a 10.25-inch virtual cockpit digital instrument cluster, and a 10-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with eSIM functionality, connected car tech, and Apple Carplay & Android Auto smartphone connectivity. Besides, the new Octavia is also likely to get powered front seats with ventilation function, panoramic sunroof, semi-auto parking assist, cruise control, drive mode selector, wireless charging, eight airbags, electronic stability control, front & rear parking sensors with a 360-degree camera, etc.

Under the hood, the updated Czech sedan will employ a 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the Skoda Superb. This motor is proficient enough in generating 190PS/320Nm and will come paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic unit. While there will be no diesel engine on offer, Skoda might provide a 150PS 1.5-liter petrol engine at a later stage.

The new-generation Skoda Octavia is likely to be priced between Rs 19 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will battle it out with the Hyundai Elantra (Rs 17.85 – 21.12 lakh).
