Force Motors is gearing up to introduce the second-generation version of Gurkha off-roader, which will rival the Mahindra Thar and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny in the Indian market. It was first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. Now, its testing mule has been spied without any camouflage, suggesting that the launch is just around the corner.
The production-spec Force Gurkha looks similar to the model showcased at the Auto Expo, retaining all the modern design bits such as a new circular headlamp with integrated LED DRLs, single slat grille, upright boxy silhouette, robust black bumpers with round fog lamps, underbody skid plates, large window sections, 16-inch chrome-plated alloy wheels, and the tailgate-mounted spare wheel. All these elements remind us of the iconic Mercedes Benz G Wagon.

The test mule was also equipped with a roof-mounted baggage carrier along with a tow hook at the rear which probably are supplemented accessories that the brand will offer with the SUV.
The cabin, on the other hand, has also undergone a complete makeover. It is likely to flourish an all-black theme instead of the black-brown shade flaunt on the model at Auto Expo. As far as the seating arrangement is concerned, it will feature front-facing captain seats in the second row and side-facing jump seats in the third row. The other notable bits of the interior include an aftermarket touchscreen infotainment system, circular air-con vents, three-spoke steering wheel, manual AC, A-pillar mounted grab rail, and a glove-box with key lock function.
We believe it will surely get the basic features such as a remote locking system, multi-info display, adjustable headrests, front power windows with driver-side auto up/down function, day/night IRVM, etc. Safety will be covered by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, speed alert system, and seat belt reminder. Considering its competitors, Force could also equip it with modern safety techs such a traction control, ESC, hill-assist, etc.
Under the hood, the Force Gurkha is likely to house a 2.6-liter diesel engine that produces 90PS and 260Nm. The engine is likely to be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox along with a low range transfer case and manually locking front & rear differentials. A 4×4 drivetrain is expected to be offered as standard. It could also get a 140PS 2.2-liter diesel engine in a later stage.
The pricing of 2021 Force Gurkha is expected to be around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
