Toyota India is all set to launch the Hilux lifestyle pickup truck in India. Sources have revealed that it will go on sale on 20th January 2022. Its official bookings will start soon after its launch for a token of Rs 1 lakh, while deliveries will begin from March 2022. Since it will be brought via the CKD route, its prices are likely to start from around Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). Its assembling will be done at Toyota’s Karnataka plant.
Revealed by a source, the Toyota Hilux will be driven by a 2.8-liter, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine making a maximum power of 208PS along with a peak torque of 500Nm. The power will be sent to the wheels via either a 6-speed manual or an optional torque converter automatic gearbox, paired with a part-time 4X4 transfer system with Active Traction Control and Auto Limited Slip Differential.
Unlike its global version, the India-bound Hilux will not get the 150PS 2.4-liter diesel unit.
The 5-seater Hilux pickup truck will borrow some elements from Fortuner and Innova Crysta, which are also based on the same platform as the Hilux. It will be equipped with features such as a piano black trapezoidal grille with chrome surround, 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED headlamps, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, powered driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, and three driving modes (Normal, ECO & Power), etc. Passenger's safety will be ensured by up to 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, hill-start & downhill assist control, vehicle stability control, reverse parking camera, and sensors. An optional Panoramic View Monitoring System (360-degree camera) could also be on offer.
Toyota will also provide the Hilux with multiple cosmetical and functional accessories.
The Toyota Hilux will get five colors to choose from — Emotional Red, Gray Metallic, Silver Metallic, White Pearl, and Super White.
The Hilux will be offered with a standard warranty of 3-years or 1 lakh kilometers (whichever is earlier), along with an optional extended warranty package ranging up to 5 years or 2.2 lakh kilometers.
When launched, the Hilux will go up against the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, which currently retails from Rs 19.32 lakh to Rs 25.84 lakh (ex-showroom).
