Tata Punch Rivaling Hyundai SUV Coming Next Year

Hyundai is reportedly working on a new compact SUV that will sit below the Venue in the brand’s current product line-up. Codenamed Ai3, it is expected to be launched by late 2023 and will go up against the Tata Punch, Mahindra KUV100 NXT, Citroen C3 and Maruti Suzuki Ignis.

While details about the upcoming Hyundai Ai3 are scarce at the moment, it is likely to be based on the same platform as the Grand i10 Nios. However, it will be slightly longer compared to the global-spec Hyundai Casper. Beneath the hood, it is likely to get the same 83PS/114Nm 1.2-litre petrol engine as its sibling hatchback. It could also receive the 100PS 1.0-litre petrol engine for added performance.

Inside, the Hyundai Ai3 is likely to get a minimalist dashboard design with twin screen setup, comprising a digital driver’s console and a floating infotainment system, to give it a more upmarket feel.

Reports are also suggesting that Hyundai is planning an annual production of around 50,000 units of the Ai3 compact SUV. And for that, the carmaker has already invested around Rs 1,470 crore to expand its manufacturing capacity from 7.7 lakh to 8.5 lakh units per annum.

Expect more details about the upcoming Hyundai Ai3 compact utility vehicle to be revealed in the near future.
